The TRD Pro arrives with a solid head start: Fox shocks, KDSS, TRD skid plate, and a suspension tune that's already better than most aftermarket setups on lesser trims. For serious multi-day backcountry trips, though, the factory setup leaves clearance and tire size on the table.
We started with a 2.5-inch OME BP-51 lift paired with Total Chaos UCAs to restore correct CV axle geometry and open up clearance for the tire upgrade.
The tire choice was straightforward: 285/70R17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers on Method 305 NV wheels at +0 offset. The combination improves approach and departure angles meaningfully without requiring trimming at ride height.
The Sherpa Kosciuszko became the structural center of the build. It carries the iKamper Skycamp 3.0 on most trips — deployed in under 90 seconds and comfortably sleeps two. When ground space is available, the tent comes down and the rack runs recovery gear and a solar panel.
A Warn Zeon 10-S on the front gives a self-recovery anchor on any terrain. It paired cleanly with the ARB Summit bumper's integrated winch plate. ARB skid plates underneath cover the engine, transmission, and transfer case on rock crossings.
Trail Industries rock sliders added meaningful step height and door protection — they've earned their place on tight single-track. The Baja Designs 30" Squadron Pro bar fills in forward visibility on terrain where factory lamps fall short.
Most pieces are direct bolt-ons — no cutting, no welding. The suspension and tire upgrade did the most work. Everything else layered on top cleanly. Total cost-to-capability ratio is strong on this platform.
