Starting From a Better Baseline

The 2021+ Bronco arrived as a genuinely capable off-road platform — particularly the Badlands trim, which ships with factory lockers front and rear, disconnecting sway bars, and 35-inch Sasquatch tires. Overlanding the Bronco starts from a different baseline: you're refining rather than foundationally building.

What to Address First

Suspension

The factory tune is comfort-forward — it works well on highway but feels soft under load on rough terrain. The suspension is serviceable from the factory on the Badlands, but for consistent loaded use, it benefits from upgrading.

Best upgrade: Bilstein 6112/5160 kit

• Front: remote-reservoir coilover with independent compression/rebound adjustment
• Rear: remote-reservoir shocks to match the front
• Result: meaningfully better control under load, improved composure at speed on rocky terrain

Bumpers

The ARB Summit is the strongest aftermarket option for the Bronco. It maintains approach angle, adds a full-width steel bumper, and integrates a winch plate with correct geometry for a Warn Zeon 10-S.

The factory bumper on non-Sasquatch trims is a significant limiter on steep entry angles. Even on the Badlands, the ARB improves approach and adds a proper recovery point.

Lighting

The factory Bronco LED setup is competent, but ditch lights dramatically improve near-field visibility on tight wooded trails.

KC HiLiTES Flex ERA 1 A-pillar kits mount cleanly without fabrication and work with both hard top and soft top configurations. They fill the forward blind spot that headlights create at close range.

Rack

The Front Runner Slimline II installs without drilling and works with both top configurations. Low-profile design minimizes wind noise penalty. Handles a rooftop tent or modular cargo setup.

Sasquatch vs Non-Sasquatch Builds

If you're on the Sasquatch package (35-inch tires, wide-body fenders, solid front axle), your priorities shift:

• Suspension is more impactful — the wide-body geometry responds well to the Bilstein upgrade
• Tire clearance is already addressed — focus on armor and recovery
• Consider armored rock sliders early — the factory sill plates are minimal

If you're on a non-Sasquatch trim, a 2-inch leveling lift and 33-inch tires is a meaningful first step before investing in full armor.
